These are the surgeries done for cancers of digestive tract. It includes cancers of esophagus, stomach, duodenum, small intestine, colon, rectum, anal canal, liver, gallbladder, bile duct, pancreas, periampullary tumors and splenic tumors. Following are the few surgeries
- Esophagectomy with two field lymph nodes clearance for esophageal cancers
- D2 gastrectomy (total/subtotal) for stomach cancers
- Radical colectomy (right, transverse, left and sigmoid) for colon cancers
- Anterior resection for ca rectum
- Ultra-low anterior resection for ca rectum lower 1/3
- Sphincter saving surgery for ca rectum lower 1/3, so that patient’s sphincter and anal canal will be preserved, so that patient will pass stools from natural orifice.
- Whipples (Pancreatico-duodenectomy) surgery for periampullary tumors, duodenal tumors, pancreatic head tumors and lower end cholangiocarcinomas.
- Distal pancreatectomy (RAMPS)for tumors of pancreatic body and tail
- Liver resections (right hepatectomy, left hepatectomy and segmental hepatectomy) for liver tumors and metastasis from colon cancers
- Extended cholecystectomy for carcinoma gallbladder
